Charles A. Crain, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the age of 73.
He was born on December 1, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of the late James "T.C." Crain and Violet Bardwell Crain.
Charlie was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retired firefighter from Orleans Parish after over 40 years of service. He also worked for Delta Testing, now Southern Earth Sciences, in New Orleans for many years. Charlie was a wonderful husband and father with a generous heart. He had an easygoing way about him and loved camping, cooking, and reading.
Charlie is survived by his wife of almost 28 years, Mary Adams Crain; step sons, Walter H. Barcellona, II (Tonya) and Adam P. Barcellona (Jennifer); sons, Charles A. Crain, Jr., Chad Crain, and Christopher Crain (Angie); grandchildren, Paige M. Crain, Kayle Crain, Chad A. Crain, Jr., Adam "A.J." P. Barcellona, Jr., Jake L. Barcellona, Bentley J. Barcellona, Morgan P. Barcellona, Caleb M. Meyers, Walter "Trey" H. Barcellona, III, Logan J. Barcellona, Avery G. Barcellona, and Noah M. Barcellona; great grandchildren, Lucas A. Crain and Raelee Crain; brother, Larry Alton Crain (Laura); brother-in-law, Henry W. Adams, Jr. (Glennette); sisters-in-law, Emily Crain and Josephine "Joie" A. Melton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his brother, James Emmet Crain; brother-in-law, Walter G. Adams, Sr.; and sisters-in-law, Sharon W. Adams and Beverly G. Adams.
Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m.
A reception will follow at Bethel Church of God, 41166 Bethel Church Rd, Ponchatoula, LA 70454.
