Gurley Maurin Obituary
Gurley McGehee Maurin, 81 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021. She was born on December 17, 1939 to the late Edward (Ned) McGehee and Augusta Tucker McGehee.
Gurley is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Aurora Gurley and Patrick Silvernail, son and daughter-in-law Buckley William McGehee and Kay Maurin, granddaughter, Darby Katherine Maurin, and three grandsons, Michael Cade Trufant, Christopher William Trufant, and Harrison Buckley Maurin , one sister, Rosamond McGehee Posey, nephews Webb Posey and Cutter Tricou, one niece, Louise Posey Parra, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Elmer Maurin, and her brother, Edward McGehee.
The full obituary can be viewed online at harrymckneely.com. Services will be held at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church and are private. The family wishes to thank nurses Shannon, Mary, and Joanne of Eagon Hospice and special caregiver Angie Pena for their loving care and support.

I became acquainted with Gurley back in the 70s when she had a needlepoint shop. It was evident that she was a multi-talented,well traveled, well educated lady. It was heartwarming to learn how many people encouraged and helped along the way. The last time I saw her she was headed to North Carolina for the summer and that was about 5 years. My condolences to her children and grands.

Love & sympathy from your McGehee relatives in Ruston, LA. Our husband & father, L.D. McGehee, was a first cousin of Ned. We have fond memories of gatherings at his home in Hammond. The obituary is lovingly written and a testimony to a very full life. My she restbin peace in life everlasting.

So sorry for your loss. Gurley was such a great person and contributed so much to the community, as did all of the McGehee family. Mr. McGehee was a mentor to so many of us as young people, and Gurley carried that trait forward. RIP
