Bishop Jesse Lee Guion, 70 of Independence, LA, passed Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Bishop Guion was born June 10, 1953 to the late Norman Guion Sr. and the late Fannie Stancil-Guion of Grifton, North Carolina.
After attending South Ayden High School, Bishop Guion began his professional career as a soldier in the United States Army, serving in Germany from 1970-1974. He then spent time pursuing both academic, trade, and social endeavors. He received an Associates Degree in Business Administration, a Cosmetology & Esthetician License, served on multiple boards, became a local councilman and also crossed over as a Mason ultimately becoming a Master Mason through Pine Grove Lodge #639.
Bishop Guion ultimately settled his life in Louisiana where he also obtained his CDL License and catapulted his lifelong entrepreneurial career as a cross-country long-haul trucker. Although Bishop Guion achieved many accomplishments the dearest to his heart was his seminary training and ministerial licensing.
Bishop Jesse Lee Guion was ordained by the 1st United Word Fellowship & Covenant Association Diocese and is the Senior Pastor of Divine Hope Ministries which he birthed in 2001.
He is survived by and was the honorable husband to Pastor Jackueline Edwards-Guion for 13 years. The proud father of 8 children. The grandfather of fourteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one sister Jacqueline Ann Guion-Holder, and a host of nephews, nieces, colleagues and friends. He is predeceased by his brothers Norman Guion Jr., Robert Lee Guion, James Walter Guion, and George Frank Guion.
Bishop Guion was a compassionate and committed man of God with an amazing personality. His selfless ways and giving heart will forever be felt by the many lives he has touched over the years. On June 22, 2022 Bishop Guion took his final rest and heard those sacred words "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
