John Battista Troiani, 89, of Ponchatoula, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022; service 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond; entombment at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery, Hammond.

As can probably be said of all of my cousins, my Uncle John will forever be remembered for a signature phrase uttered with a faux stern look at every family get-together, wedding, party, etc. "Are you behaving??" The answer was always yes, even when we weren't... and most of the time we weren't, although "misbehaving" during those years amounted to little more than spiking each other's soft drinks with salt, pepper, and sugar packets.
In cleaning out my parents' home I came across two framed landscapes, painted by my Uncle John in the early 1970s. I now have them hanging in the foyer of my home... a lasting tribute to one of his lesser known talents as a phenomenal landscape artist.
I will forever miss and love you, Uncle John. <3
