BERTHA THOMAS Obituary

BERTHA MAY GRIJALVA-THOMAS

May 6, 1947 – June 4, 2025

Bertha May Grijalva-Thomas, age 78, of Selma, California, passed away on June 4, 2025, in Selma.

Bertha was born on May 6, 1947, in Kingsburg, California, to Art and Rogelia Grijalva of Selma, California. She graduated from Selma High School in 1965, where she was a member of the Selma High School Marching band. Bertha served in the United States Army, later married and started a family she deeply loved.

Her most cherished accomplishment was dedicating her life to Jehovah God and helping others apply Bible truths to live a meaningful life both now and in the future. Bertha was an avid reader who also enjoyed history, traveling, gardening and watching nature.

She is survived by her five children: Rita Stewart, Kenneth Fellows, Dora Reis, Molly Fellows, and Tyson Thomas; nine grandchildren: Victoria Stewart, Derrick Stewart, Jeremiah King, Jared Dornenburg Jr, Lillian Fellows-Grijalva, Manuel Grijalva, and Asher Thomas; honorary grandchildren: Riley Turney and Cameron Turney; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Rogelia Grijalva of Selma.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2850 Thompson Avenue, Selma, CA, with a reception to follow.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Jared, Jessica, Riley, and Cameron Turney for becoming part of our family and enriching Bertha's life with love and friendship over the years. We are especially grateful for the warmth and support you showed by opening your home to her during hospice care.

Tia was always so kind and beautiful. When I was younger I always thought she resembled my nana. I don´t have many memories with her but I always thought she was so cool for being in the army and also learning to speak another language to help spread Jehovahs word.
