Mary Louise Chase died peacefully in her sleep on July 25th, 2022 in Visalia, California. Mary Lou was born on June 9th, 1930, in Gilroy, California, to Donald and Rachel Chesbro. Mary Lou married Hillis (Mike) Chase in Carson, Nevada, and raised 5 children in Avenal, California, then later in Hanford, California. They raised Kathryn (Abel) Camarena, of New Mexico, Dan (Joyce) Chase, of California, Margaret (Clint) Houge, of Montana; Christine Adams (Robert Young), of California, Jeff Chase, of California. Mary Lou and Hillis have 9 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.
During her years in Avenal, Mary Lou worked as a teachers aide. When the family moved to Hanford, Mary Lou worked for the Sheriff Department, then the Kings County Clerks Office where she served as a Superior Court Clerk.
A passionate gardener, Mary Lou was a long-term member of Master Gardener. She frequently volunteered to man the telephone helpline for her chapter. She was the kind and knowledgeable person on the phone advising gardeners who tried to help ailing plants thrive.
In 1974 Mary Lou joined PEO International, an organization of women who focus on philanthropic endeavors toward educational scholarships for women. Mary Lou served as president in 1984-1985.
Mary Lou was devoted to her church for a very long time serving her community with enthusiasm and grace. A celebration of her life will be held at First Christian Church at 505 W. Cameron Street, Hanford, California on October 22, 2022 at 10AM.A luncheon at the chapel, catered by Panera Bread Co, will follow.
In accordance with her wishes, Mary Lou will be cremated and her ashes scattered.

I worked with Mary Lou in the mid-1970s at the Kings County Clerk-Recorder's Office. She was very kind and helpful to everyone, and I appreciated her tolerance and help as I learned the ropes. I'm very sorry for the family's loss.
