Brian Ray Lunetta, 61, of Philadelphia, Missouri, passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 21, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer. He left this earthly realm with the satisfaction of knowing that his beloved Kansas City Chiefs are the reigning Super Bowl Champions.
Brian was born on January 29, 1963, in Adair County, Missouri to Barbara and Phillip Dolan. His parents separated when he was young and, eventually, he and his mother settled in Ventura, California, where Brian would reside for the next 50 years. In 1970, Barbara married Jim Lunetta who became not only Brian's stepfather but also his adoptive father.
Brian graduated from Ventura High School in 1981. After trying college and several jobs, he started working at Buena Chevron. He worked as the manager alongside his friend and boss Kevin. Brian was always willing to listen to a story and more willing to tell one. He was also passionate about music, appreciating it as well as creating and performing it. He was a member of several bands over the years, providing vocals, guitar, and harmonica.
In 2017, Brian made a big life-move by returning to his birthplace in rural Missouri. He lived and worked in an around Hannibal, Missouri, and settled into a cozy little house in the woods - a place he called his paradise. He said he could step out his front door and go hunting or fishing, two things he loved to do. Brian enjoyed reconnecting with his cousins Mike and Shelley & Carl. They, along with his cats, were his Missouri family that provided him with love and support until the very end. He really loved his time in Missouri, and said, "They never should have taken me away from this place." Fittingly, it is his final resting place.
Brian was predeceased by his mother Barbara, and grandparents Max and Ruth Barnett, Brozzi and Elizabeth Lunetta, and Francis and Ethel Pearl Dolan. He will be dearly missed by his father Jim Lunetta, his brother and sister-in-law Brad and Jessica Lunetta, his nephews Fritz, Palmer, and Dalton, and many cousins and other assorted family as well as many friends.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life, which will be held at the Poinsettia Pavilion, 3451 Foothill Road in Ventura, on Saturday November 23, 2024, from 12:00-4:00 p.m.
