Charles Biggers Obituary

Charles Thomas Biggers, "Tom", 79, of Perry, MO passed away peacefully in his home Monday morning, November 20, 2023.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Perry. Visitation will be held at 11am until the time of the 1pm service at the Church.

Burial will follow in the Lick Creek Cemetery in rural Perry. The Smith Funeral Home and Chapel in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.

Tom was born April 8, 1944, in Hannibal, MO the son of Hiram Lawrence and Genevieve Floy (Masters) Biggers. Tom married Judith Laurel (McGlothlin) Biggers on August 8, 1965, in Palmyra, MO. They were married almost 50 years prior to her passing in 2014.

Survivors include their children Thomas Brent Biggers of Palmyra, MO, Ryan Charles Biggers of Springfield, VA, and Rebecca Laurel Biggers of Los Angeles, CA, and grandson, Blaine Biggers of Quincy, IL, three sisters-in-law, Peggy Butts (Steve) of Quincy, IL, Sharon Lear (Jim) of Monroe City, MO, Deloris Stauffer of Edina, MO, a brother-in-law Kenneth McGlothlin (Judy) of Temple, TX, dear cousins Marlene Crivello (Charlie) of Ballwin, MO and Ronald Masters (Mary Jane) of Sugarland, TX, Marsha Appel of Colfax WA, and life-long friends Carr and Rosemary Woods of Waukee, IA.

Mr. Biggers was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judy, one sister-in-law Joyce Hackler of Taylor, MO, brother-in-law Jim Hackler of Taylor, MO, and brother-in-law Bill Stauffer of Edina, MO.

Tom was a member of the Perry Presbyterian Church and a life-long resident of Perry. He was a proud member of the Future Farmers of America. In his youth he traveled around the country showing cattle and seeing rodeos. Tom graduated from Mark Twain High School in 1962 and then graduated from Mizzou - University of Missouri in 1966, with a Bachelor's of Science and Agriculture. After graduating from Mizzou, he and Judy moved back to Perry to operate their family farm. In 1967 they welcomed their first child, Brent. The following year, Tom was featured on the 1968 August-September issue of The National Future Farmer. Tom most enjoyed raising cattle, Quarter horses, and being on his farm. He wrote poetry and song lyrics, loved Gunsmoke, and music. If he wasn't talking about horses, he was talking about music. His favorites were Willie Nelson, Chuck Berry, and recently Amy Winehouse.

Pallbearers will be Carr Woods, Larry Dowell, Greg Powers, Scott Ross, Jeff Trower, Tom Trower, Austin Woodhurst.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Masters, Charlie Crivello, Steve Butts, Rick Baker, Howard Williams.

Memorials may be made to College of the Ozarks, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
