Collin J. Clay, known affectionately as Collin to all who knew him, left this world far too soon at the age of 25, following a tragic farming accident on February 20, 2024, in Pike County, MO. Born on February 16, 1999, in Syracuse, New York, Collin's infectious laughter and generous spirit were a gift to all who had the privilege of crossing his path.
Raised to value hard work and deep roots, Collin was a proud graduate of Hannibal High School. He carried the lessons of diligence and perseverance into his adult life, working tirelessly as a truck driver and farmer. His commitment to the soil and open road was more than a career; it was a calling, one that he answered with unwavering dedication.
Collin's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with passions that painted the picture of a man who lived fully and loved deeply. An avid outdoorsman, he found peace and excitement in duck hunting and fishing along the Mississippi River and Mark Twain Lake. His love for the Kansas City Chiefs was matched only by his enjoyment of a cold Busch Light Beer in the company of friends and family. Camo, his favorite color, was a testament to his love of the outdoors and became a signature part of his everyday life.
Music was a constant companion for Collin, with country tunes providing the soundtrack to many of his life's moments. He lived by the words "Livin' the Dream," a phrase that captured his optimistic outlook and his knack for finding joy in every situation. His presence was a source of laughter and warmth, and those who knew him would agree that funny, friendly, and faith-filled are the words that best describe Collin.
Though his time with us was brief, the legacy Collin leaves behind is one of love and laughter. He is survived by a family that adored him: his mother, Kelley Taylor; his father, Jeffrey Clay; his stepfather, Jeffrey Taylor; his grandmothers, Patricia Calarco and Tanya Taylor; his grandfathers, David Clay Sr. and Jeffrey Taylor; his sisters, Celine Clay (Ryan Carter) and Rossanna Moore (Connor Arnold), his special extended family, the Walden Family and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
Collin was preceded in death by his grandmother, Margaret Clay; grandfather, Ross Calarco; and uncle, Donald Jacobs. His departure from this earth leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but the memories of his laughter, kindness, and zest for life will continue to inspire and comfort them.
Friends and Family are invited to Collin's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, February 23, 2024, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.
