James R. Davis, 66 of New London, MO passed away at 7:10 AM, Thursday, October 16, 2025 at the Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Burial will be at Barkley Cemetery in New London, MO. Rev. Richard Epperson will officiate.
Friends and Family are invited to James's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at the funeral home.
James was born on February 5, 1959 in Louisiana, MO to Paul R. Davis and Ruby N. Gilliland Davis.
He was married on July 23, 1983 to Angela M. Thorne at the Salt River Christian Church in Ralls County, MO. She survives.
Also surviving are two children: Jessica Ray (Tyler) of Auxvasse, MO and Keith Davis (Heather) of Hannibal, MO; one brother, Elmer Smith (Becky) of Hannibal, MO; two grandchildren: Brantley Davis and Bryson Davis both of Hannibal, MO; sister-in-law, Sherry Windland (Rick) of Frankford, MO and one brother-in-law, Allen Thorne (Dorothy) of Salem, IA and several nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Jesse Smith, Walter Smith and Gary Davis and two sisters: Faye Miller and Katheryn Davis.
James was currently working as the Head Custodian at the Hannibal Career and Technical Center. He previously worked for over 20 years for the Missouri Department of Transportation with the Maintenance Crew and prior to that he was employed at Hannibal Carbide Tool, Inc. for 23 years.
Away from work, James loved to spend time at the farm and enjoyed the outdoors. An avid outdoorsman, James took pleasure in a variety of hunting, adventures fishing at Mark Twain Lake and mushroom hunting. Coaching his kids' sports, playing cards or watching How It's Made were also a few of James's favorites. Most of all James cherished being a grandpa and spending time with his family.
James was Christian by faith.
Pallbearers will be Keith Davis, Tyler Ray, Jay Smith, Chris Smith, Bobby Thorne, Austin Smith, Andrew Ward, and Todd Ward.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Brantley and Bryson Davis.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Salt River Christian Church or to the donor's choice.
