Patricia M. (Avery) Emmite, age 94, of Palmyra, MO and formerly of Independence, MO, passed away at 8:28 am Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Blessing Hospital.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Antioch Cemetery. Patricia's son Pastor Jack Emmite will officiate.
The family is being served by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel of Hannibal.
Patricia was born on November 26, 1929, in Galveston, TX the daughter of John and Ethel (Wiggins) Avery.
She was united in marriage to Jack Emmite on February 26, 1953, in Galveston, TX. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2020.
Survivors include her two sons, Jack Emmite, Jr. (Melinda) of Hannibal, MO and Thomas Emmite (Peggy) of Charleston,WV; daughter, Elizabeth Emmite of Palmyra, MO, two granddaughters, Jenny Manzke (Bob) and Lindsay Emmite, grandson, Daniel Emmite four great-grandchildren, Meredith, Micah, Gwendolyn and Marshall.
Other survivors include two sisters, Kathleen Gore and Susan Pierson, brother, Fred Avery and sister-in-law, Ann Avery.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack Emmite, Sr., four brothers, Michael Avery, John Avery, Jr.,Thomas Avery and James Avery, two sisters, Joyce Ann Avery and Mary Claire Mayfield.
Professionally Patricia worked in the PR department at the Johnson Space Center when Apollo 11 first landed on the Moon. After moving to Missouri, Patricia worked a few different jobs before retiring from Macy's.
Patricia was very artistic and enjoyed her time with fellow artists in a painting club. She also took pleasure in sewing for her family. She and her husband enjoyed relaxing while watching westerns together. Her family considered Patricia to be a gourmet cook and especially liked to partake in eating her "famous" spaghetti and meatballs, potato salad and German chocolate cake. Patricia lived her life with a positive outlook, she was strong willed and always put others first. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Patricia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will truly be missed.
Patricia was a Catholic by faith.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Emmite, Daniel Emmite, Doug Johnson, Bob Manzke, Micah McAllister and Thomas Moore.
Memorial contributions may be made to Antioch Cemetery Hannibal, MO 63401, in care of smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
