Sarah Joy Walker, 45, of Hannibal, MO, passed away at 5:03 PM, Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO.
Funeral Services will be at 12:00 PM, Saturday, September 6, 2025, at United Pentecostal Church in Palmyra, MO. Rev. Robert Axton will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, MO.
Friends and Family are invited to Sarah's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Saturday at the church.
The family is being served by the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.
Sarah was born June 23, 1980, in Muscatine, IA to Jim Darnell and Debbie Mickels Darnell Thomas.
She was married to Steve I. Walker on January 13, 2012, in Hannibal, MO. He survives.
Other survivors include her father, Jim Darnell (Laurie) of Hannibal, MO; mother, Debbie Thomas (Buddy) of Palmyra, MO; two daughters, Alexis Stratton of Hannibal, MO and Elle Walker of the home; one son, Michael Dyer of Maine; two step daughters, Lexie Walker of Hannibal, MO and Grace Walker of South Dakota; foster son, Jonathan Hadsell; and one brother, Jimmy Darnell (Tricia) of Louisiana, MO.
Sarah was preceded in death by her grandmother, Betty Mickels.
Sarah was a homemaker and previously worked at Hannibal Board of Public Works.
Sarah was a beacon of light in her community, always ready with a warm smile and a kind word for everyone she met. Her laughter was infectious, and her spirit was as free as the ocean breeze she so adored. The beach was Sarah's sanctuary, a place where she found peace and joy. Her many vacations to the sunny shores of Florida were memories that she treasured deeply. An avid traveler, Sarah reveled in the excitement of exploring new places. She was an excellent vacation planner, creating trips that were not just journeys but adventures that she cherished. Sarah's love for the aromatic brew of coffee was well known among her friends and family. She was a familiar face at Java Jive and Mimi's, where she would start her day with her favorite drink, engaging in lively conversations with fellow patrons. At home, Sarah found comfort in the pages of her daily devotional and Bible, drawing strength and inspiration from the words she read. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, providing a foundation of grace and compassion that she extended to all. Sarah was a gifted cook, her lasagna and meatloaf were a couple of her most requested dishes. Naps with her beloved Maltipoo, Prince, were among Sarah's favorite pastimes. Above all, Sarah cherished the moments with her family and children. Sarah will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sarah was a longtime dedicated member of United Pentecostal Church of Palmyra, MO. Sarah was always happy to volunteer where she was needed, was active with Vacation Bible School, and was a wonderful door greeter. She also enjoyed picking up the children for church in the church bus with her husband, Steve.
Pallbearers will be Bert Walker, Cole Shinn, Mark Drazba Jr., Jimmy Darnell Jr., Travin Brosi, and Sonny Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to United Pentecostal Church of Palmyra, MO.
