Carl Harte Obituary

Private memorial services and interment will be held at a later date; arrangements and cremation under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison.

Carl Edward Harte Jr., of Lead Hill, passed away Thursday, Dec. 21 (2017 at Hospice House in Harrison, at the age of 85.

The son of Carl E. Harte Sr., and Irene Marie (Gomez) Harte was born June 1, 1932, in Oakland, California.

He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran, serving for 20 years as a Gunner's Mate, 1st Class. He moved to Arkansas in 1983 from California. He enjoyed visiting at Loafers Glory Community Church and had accepted Christ as his Savior.

"Pops" enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling across the US in his RV. He loved telling stories and "harassing" everyone that crossed his path.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. Harte; a daughter, Carlotta Harte (Babcock); three grandchildren, Nicholas O'Banion, Corey Brown and Paul Andrew Woodruff; four sisters, Vivian Marie Pearsall, Carlotta Harte, Marie Harte and Shirley Harte; and his beloved dog, Lizzy.

He is survived by his children, Sherry Kelley, Penny West, Casey Shadwick (John), Peggy Woodruff (Paul), Carl Harte III, and Pollyanna Young (Tim); a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his step-son, Ray White (Dawn); his nephew, Burl Pearsall; his close friends, Dorothy Tackett, Hugh and Jean Simer, Piglet and his favorite redhead; and a host of other family and friends who will miss him.

Private memorial services and interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements and cremation under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison.

Donations in his memory can be made to Hospice of the Hills – Hospice House, 501 East Sherman Avenue, Harrison, AR, 72601.
