Gary Methvin Obituary

Gary Lee Methvin, age 55, of Everton, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 in Springfield, Missouri at Mercy Hospital surrounded by his family.

The son of Bobby Lee Methvin and JoElla (Cunningham) Methvin was born in Harrison on April 11, 1969. He was raised in Eros and graduated from Bruno-Pyatt High School in 1987.

Gary Lee Methvin was a beloved fixture in our community, having dedicated nearly four decades of his life to working at Hudson's grocery, where he was known for his unwavering commitment and warm demeanor. His presence was a cornerstone of the store, and he touched countless lives with his kindness and dedication.

In addition to his role at Hudson's, Gary was a dedicated volunteer firefighter. He answered the call to serve our community with bravery and selflessness, embodying the true spirit of public service.

Gary loved to float and kayak the creeks and rivers, especially with his brother-in-law Billy Keeter. Gary and Danette enjoyed their many side-by-side trips with friends.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Danette; his son, Brylee; his dear parents, Bob and JoElla Methvin; his supportive siblings, Judy and husband Steve Hobbs, Debra Keeter, Ransey and his wife Patty Methvin; Aunt, Joyce Cunningham; his fur-baby, Stella; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by in-laws that thought a lot of him, especially Grandmother, Evelyn Wiens; Aunt Kathy Wiens; and Mother-in-Law, Carolyn Shell. He will be remembered for his loving spirit, unwavering dedication to family, and the profound impact he made on everyone he met.

Gary is proceeded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Ider Cunningham and Ralph and Lela Methvin; Aunt Mary Cunningham; and his Brother-in-Law, Billy Keeter.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 6 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.

I knew Gary only from his kindness at Hudson's. Shopping there just won't be the same. Peace to his family.

Gary loved helping people. Our son got stuck on the side of the road when it was snowing near Everton. It was Gary who saw him walking and got him home safe to his wife and children. What a blessing Gary was to everyone who was his friend. I miss you Gary and joking about Fab rats and off road wrecker games.
