Louise Watts, 86, a resident of Harrison, peacefully passed away in her sleep on the morning of Tuesday, March 12 (2024) in Springdale, at the home of her daughter. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Born on Aug. 26, 1937, at Marshall, Louise was a daughter of John Troy and Edna Clara Freeman Young. She spent her formative years on a strawberry farm in Marshall, where she cultivated a strong work ethic and a love for family. Despite her upbringing, she found her passion lay elsewhere, steering clear of strawberry picking.
On October 17, 1956, Louise married the love of her life, James Floyd Watts, in Searcy County. Together, they embarked on a journey that took them through Indiana and Illinois before settling in St. Charles, Missouri. In the 70's, they made Harrison their home, where they lovingly raised three children.
Louise's professional journey was as diverse as her interests. She began her career as a waitress at the Motor Court in Marshall before transitioning to become a dedicated homemaker. Her talents extended to sewing, and she spent some time at Mode O'Day before concluding her working years at JC Penney, retiring in October of 1999.
A woman of faith, Louise was a devoted member of the Capps Road Church of Christ for many years. She shared her faith through teaching the children's class and attending ladies Bible study.
Louise's home was always open to friends and family. She relished the opportunity to host gatherings, whether for birthdays, holidays, or simply to celebrate life's moments. Armed with her camera, she captured countless memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
Music was very important to Louise's family, and she developed a passion for music as well. She learned to play the guitar and piano at an early age. Family gatherings often turned into lively jam sessions filled with laughter and joy.
Louise's interests were varied, from cosmetology to games. She spent many evenings perfecting her hair and nails, always ensuring she looked her best. Her skill at applying lipstick without a mirror was admired by all who knew her. She enjoyed watching game shows and engaging in board and card games with her loved ones.
A true peacemaker, Louise enjoyed a serene life. She found solace in rocking and swinging on the porch, feeding the birds, and listening to her wind chimes. She cherished moments spent with family, particularly annual gatherings at Table Rock Lake for Labor Day weekend.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; a son, Scott Watts; and her sister, Rochelle Young Wallin Powers. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
She is survived by a son, Christopher James Watts, of Fayetteville; a daughter and son-in-law, Gina Louise and James Anthony Lee, of Springdale; four grandchildren, Tyler James Lee and his wife, Cherrell, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Madison Hope Lee, of Rogers, Coby Harrison Watts, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, and Justin Lawrence Watts and his wife Katherine, of Siloam Springs; six great-grandchildren; a brother, James Anthony "Tony" Young, of Rogers; numerous nephews and nieces; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 18 (2024) at Holt Memorial Chapel with Mr. Norman Sewell and Mr. James Anthony "Tony" Young officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
