Violet Pauline Akins

1936 - 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Violet Pauline Akins, 88, a long-time resident of Diamond City, who passed away on Thursday, April 24, after a long battle with heart disease.
She was born on October 25, 1936, at Delaware, Okla. to Clarence and Ethel Scott. She grew up in Theodosia, Mo., where she met her husband, Hobert Gene Akins. They had nine children, and she lived most of her life in the Ozarks. Pauline was a force of love, kindness, and compassion, and was beloved by family and friends. She took the verse of Hebrew 13:2 to heart: Be not forgetful to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.  Nothing made her happier than seeing her children and grandbabies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert, and son, Hobert Gene Akins Jr., who passed away in July 2021.
She is survived by eight of her nine children, Clay (Kimberly-fiancée), Ida Rupp (Daniel), Ethie Tensel (Scott), Truman (Melanie), Glenda Wise (Dave), Lawanna Stuck (Don), Marjie Jenkins (Craig), and Daniel (Akelia); 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Dub Scott, Franklin Scott, Albert Scott and Ernie Scott.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, at First Baptist Church of Lead Hill. Burial will be in Milum Cemetery at Lead Hill Under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the funeral home.
