HARTFORD CITY – Amy Elizabeth "Betty" Stafford-Hamilton, 90, died at 2:40 pm. on Monday, April 2, 2012, at Miller's Merry Manor in Hartford City.
She was born on April 16, 1921, in Selma to the late William Fodrea and the late Tora Mae (Driver) Fodrea.
Betty married Robert R. Stafford on June 4, 1938. He died on May 24, 1980. She married her second husband, Robert P. Hamilton, on August 15, 1989. He died on October 11, 2002.
She was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Hartford City Wesleyan Church, where she had been a member since 1951 and is considered the longest standing member of the church. She was a member of the Tom Hale Senior Citizens Center and T.O.P.P.S. She enjoyed family, exercising and playing Mexican Train at the Senior Citizens Center.
Betty will be sadly missed by her sons, Robert Ray (wife, Ruth G.) Stafford, of Montpelier, Eugene Stafford, of Hartford City, and Richard Edgar Stafford, of Hartford City; daughter, Joyce L. Stafford (husband, Mike G.) Christman, of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Robin Bercot, Brenda C. Stafford, Kyle McBride, Jaysun McBride, Steve R. (wife, Michelle) Stafford, James E. Stafford, Beth (husband, Larry) McCowan, Karen Stafford (fiance, Jerry Claghorn), Lisa M. Stafford, Todd R. Stafford, Chad M. Christman and Eric R. (wife, Kari) Christman; 19 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Vera Reiber, of Parker City, and Dorothy Rust, of Fountain City; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, her second husband, grandson, Robert Scott Stafford, brothers, Harry Fodrea, Howard Fodrea and Lee Fodrea, and sisters, Cleva Turner, Martha Swingley, Ida Swingley and Marguerite Downing.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 6, 2012, at Hartford City Wesleyan Church, 221 N. Cherry St., Hartford City with the Rev. Thomas Parsons Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Black Cemetery in Albany.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 5, 2012, from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St., Hartford City, and on Friday, April 6, 2012, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Hartford City Wesleyan Church.
