Alan Pescik Obituary

Alan Joseph Pescik, 67, of Granby, beloved husband for 40 years of Carol M. Pescik, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Manchester on November 25, 1954, son of the late Edwin Edward and Genevieve (Gawlak) Pescik, he was raised in Manchester, attended St. James School and was a graduate of East Catholic High School. After high school, Alan continued his education at Bates College. He returned to Hartford and started working in the insurance industry as a programmer. Alan married Carol Martin on October 23, 1982 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Newington. The young couple settled in Newington and later moved to South Windsor and Bolton before settling in Windsor in 1992. Alan and Carol raised their two daughters in Windsor and were active in their daughters many activities. A devout Catholic throughout his life, Alan was raised in St. James Church in Manchester where he served as an altar boy. After moving to Windsor Alan and his family were parishioners of St. Joseph Church in the Poquonock section of Windsor and after moving to Granby in 2017 they joined St. Therese Parish in Granby. Alan and his family enjoyed being a part of the life of the parish and volunteered and participated in several ministries including Covenant to Care while living in Windsor. Just three weeks before his passing, Alan and Carol celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at Sunday Mass at St. Therese Parish with Rev. William Agyemang offering a special blessing for them at the end of the service. In his spare time, Alan enjoyed playing cribbage, gardening around his home, and bowling. He loved to cook for his family and friends and was especially well-known for his stuffed cabbage and his signature dish, Alan's famous smoked pulled pork. Most of all, Alan will be remembered as a family man who enjoyed relaxing at home with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Erika Gero and her husband Michael of Granby, and Emily Pescik of East Granby; two grandchildren, Christopher and Cameron Gero both of Granby; a brother, Michael Pescik and his wife Fran of Windsor Locks; three nieces, Elaine Mann and her husband Benjamin of Longmeadow, MA, Jennifer Ohlund and her husband Bryan of Newington, and Allison Pomroy and her husband Eric of Glastonbury. He was also leaves his wife's family including her two siblings, Danny Martin and his wife Shirley, Gene Martin and his wife Michelle; a sister-in-law, Gail Bannock; and eight nieces and nephews, Clayton Bannock and his wife Toni, Matthew Bannock and his wife Jenny, Alice Taylor and her husband Zachary, Daniel Martin and his wife Jennifer, Eric Martin and his wife Britny, Amber Robinson and her husband Jeff, Joel Bannock, and Tim Bannock and his significant other, Laurie Landry. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Phil and Jerry Bannock; a sister-in-law, Beth Bannock; and a nephew, Joshua Martin. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Therese Parish in Granby. Burial will be in Granby Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Alan and I grew up together attending St James School and Polish functions. I learned of his passing at our 50 th high school reunion tonight. Please accept my condolences. I have been thinking of my old friend recently and recalling our childhood.
