1988 - 2019

Alexander David Wilcox "Alex", 30, of Middletown, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, May 31, 2019. Born in New Haven on June 10, 1988, he was the son of Karen and Nathan Lane of Moodus. Alex was a great listener and was always willing to help out where he was needed. He genuinely loved his friends and wanted to see them successful, happy, and having fun together. He knew how to make everyone laugh by telling witty jokes, dancing, and even learning a few magic tricks along the way! He was a computer whiz who enjoyed traveling and walking to go on nature adventures. He also enjoyed the sport of fencing and began a fencing club while studying computer science at Eastern Connecticut State University. Alex loved working at The Home Depot in Middletown. An asset to the store, he was a full-time sales associate, workshop leader, and would help out anywhere he was needed without a complaint. He bonded quickly with many of his coworkers and considered them to be his "orange family." Besides his parents, Alex is survived by his grandmother, Judith Olsen of Florida, aunt, Kathy Trumbull and husband John of New Hampshire, and his honorary brother, Stephen Tsolis. Also left to cherish his memory are many more uncles, aunts, cousins, and beloved friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Elizabeth "Betty" (Budney) and Irwin "Rupe" Wilcox and paternal grandparents Dolores (Everett) and Nathan Lane. A celebration of Alex's life will be held on Monday June 10, 2019, at Rose Hill Funeral Home 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill. Calling hours will take place from 5 to 8 PM with a memorial tribute from 7 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stonehaven Treatment Center, 325 Main St, Portland, CT 06480.
