SCOTT, Alexandra "Alex" Alexandra "Alex" Scott, the founder of Alex's Lemonade Stand Fund, has lost her battle with neuroblastoma—a childhood cancer—at the age of 8. Alex peacefully passed on at her home in Wynnewood, PA, with her parents Liz Flynn Scott and Jay Scott at her side. In addition to her parents, she is survived by three brothers, Patrick (9), Eddie (5) and Joey(1). Alex was born in Manchester on January 18, 1996. At the age of one she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of childhood cancer. She fought a courageous battle against her illness for the eight years of her life, surprising her doctors and inspiring her family and friends with her amazing strength and spirit. Alex was an independent, creative, funny, and spunky girl. She liked to spend time reading, drawing, knitting, working on crafts, and playing solitaire. She liked spicy foods, the color purple, karate, and attending school at Penn Wynne Elementary. Alex was the founder of Alex's Lemonade Stand. This national fundraising effort began with a lemonade stand held by Alex in her front yard. Over the past four years her lemonade stand grew into a national effort. To date, she has raised over $900,000 to benefit cancer research. Alex has been the recipient of many prestigious awards: the 2003 Volvo for Life Hero Award, The Philadelphia Foundation Philanthropist of the Year, Philadelphia 76ers Basketball Hometown Hero—two consecutive years, the 2003 Good Housekeeping Heroes for Health Award and a Commendation from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Alex would have liked to be remembered, not for her suffering, but for her strength. Not for the things she wasn't able to do, but for the obstacles she overcame. She taught us that through selfless love and with courage and determination, one person can truly make a difference in the life of others. Her legacy will live on forever. Alex's Spirit will remain in the hearts of her family, friends and all those who were touched by her life. In addition to her parents and brothers, Alex is survived by her paternal grandparents Patrick and Judy Scott of Windsor, her maternal grandparents Dorothy and Edward Flynn of Manchester, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and countless friends and supporters. Viewing: Chadwick & McKinney Funeral Home, Wednesday, August 4, from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Funeral: Thursday August 5, at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of the Redeemer, 250 Pennswood Rd, Bryn Mawr, PA. Burial immediately following at the Washington National Monument & Cemetery in Valley Forge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alex's Lemonade Fund for Pediatric Cancer, 333 Lancaster Avenue, #414 Wynnewood, PA 19096.

Hi Alex I don't know why you popped into my head again but you did. My daughter Alexandria (Allie) shared room with you 2 or 3 times. The nurses would always say which one is Alex and which one is Allie? Allie gave you her stuffed animal because she was going home. You 2 were young normal little girls. You are a great inspiration to many people. There's so many times you were in pain or Allue was in pain. I hated watching 2 beautiful little girls have so much pain at such a young age.
I know you are resting in the Lord's loving arms.

Alexandra was born on January 18, 1996 and was diagnosed with neuroblastoma and raised money for pediatric cancer research with the help of other kids and grown ups through her lemonade stand. She gave the money she raise to research to find cures for pediatric cancers.
She lived in Pennsylvania, right down the street from Philadelphia
Her fav. colors are Blue and Purple
Her fav. animal is a Penguin
She was in 2nd grade
She loved everything about school
Her fav. food was French Fries
Her fav. book was Junie B. Jones Series and The Little House on The Prairie Books
Her fav. movie is Scooby-Doo
Her fav. TV Show was Pokemon and American Idol
What she wanted to be when she grew up was a Fashion Designer
She wanted to visit France
And her fav. sport was Soccer.
Those are what Alexandra loved her life. I know for her family it is still very difficult and I know how they feel, God will be there to comfort the family through this difficult time losing someone that they actually loved their entire lives. Alex will be in our hearts and no distance will be far as long as she belongs in our hearts.
We love you Alex. R.I.P.

Nature
As a fond mother, when the day is o'er,
Leads by the hand her little child to bed,
Half willing, half reluctant to be led,
And leave his broken playthings on the floor,
Still gazing at them through the open door,
Nor wholly reassured and comforted
By promises of others in their stead,
Which, though more splendid, may not please him more;
So Nature deals with us, and takes away
Our playthings one by one, and by the hand
Leads us to rest so gently, that we go
Scarce knowing if we wish to go or stay,
Being too full of sleep to understand
How far the unknown transcends the what we know.

Happy late birthday to Alexandra Scott. I know it has been a very difficult time and 12 years later it is still difficult for the family to go through Alex Scott's loss back in 2004. I know it hurts and God will comfort her family. I hope the family is still staying strong.
Again, happy late birthday Alexandra Scott.

I have read about Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation and back in 2004. It was very sad to hear the news over what happened to this person Alex Scott. I have been writing a letter to the foundation and they all loved it very much. I just hope the family stays strong and my heart, my condolences, my thoughts and my prayers go out to her family and for the family May God be with you. God bless you.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.

Music, when soft voices die
Music, when soft voices die,
Vibrates in the memory
Odours, when sweet violets sicken,
Live within the sense they quicken.
Rose leaves, when the rose is dead,
Are heaped for the beloved's bed;
And so thy thoughts, when thou art gone,
Love itself shall slumber on.

Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

I went to Whole Foods today where my 7 year old daughter asked me if I could buy a bracelet for her. I bought it and in my vehicle where I tore off the tag, I noticed that this item was made for Alex's lemonade stand. I got on my iPhone and researched. In Alex's short life, where she lived close to my hometown in CT, she raised 700 k in 2 yrs for children cancer victims. Tears did fall when I read about Alex. It is so sad to hear about children suffering like Alex, and to read about her determination to raise awareness and funds for the disease just shows what a miraculous child she really was.

The years may come and go, but the memories of those who have touched our hearts will live on forever. How we look forward to the day when we will be reunited with our loved ones once again.
He will call, the dead will answer. They shall live at his command. For he will have a longing for the work of his own hand. So have faith, and do not wonder, For our God can make us stand. And we shall live forever, as the work of his own hand.

I am a Girl Scout leader in San Antonio, TX Troop 686 and when we found out about this amazing little girl the first thing our troop wanted to do is have a lemonade stand. The 13 girls in my troop put signs everywhere and put flyers at school. Our lemondade stand was on September 11, 2004 a day of rememberance. we had the best lemonade stand and sent you a nice check. My Girl Scout troop has made Alex's Lemonade stand their mission. The girls now think of other people instead of themselves. Thank you for doing all of this. You did make a difference you beautiful little girl. Our troop will continue to have fundraisers and lemonade stands to help you reach your goal. You now have 13 Additional Little Helpers that will help you reach the gazillion.

I first heard Alexandra's story on television a short while ago. It touched me deeply to see someone who was sick with cancer trying to help others that were ill as well. I have seen cancer take too many of my family members in the last couple of years, and have often felt empty, and without direction. I will use her example to draw strength in whatever struggles the future may hold, and prey that her family will take comfort in knowing that even in death she is helping others.

I have been so overwhelmed by the reality that little Alex is gone. Everytime I think of her struggle, her determination, and her pain I simply cannot hold back the tears. People like Alex make this world a better place (no matter how cliche that sounds), and make us realize how valuble life truly is. I first learned of her story watching the Oprah episode, and I was deeply touched then. After researching Neuroblastoma I often prayed that she would be able to pull through and beat this illness once and for all to provide the happy ending that I would like. But that is just an example of what life is all about. You deal with and make the most of every situation in life. If a 4 year old child can see the brighter side of things through so much pain, how can I ever be truly unhappy or uninspired when I have never experienced such.
Thank you Alex sooo much for touching my heart. I have never met you but you are more than an inspiration to me and I feel that my life has been changed forever. The quote: "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade" is now constantly running through my mind and is something I will live by from this moment on.
May you be at peace.

To the Scott Family,
Children are precious gifts from God. Little Alexandra accomplished more in her 8 years than many do in a lifetime. From reading some of the e-mails and seeing her on both the Oprah and Today shows, she truly was an amazing young lady. May the God of comfort give you peace that excels all thought.

To the Scott Family,
As a work-mate of Erin's, I
followed Alex's valiant efforts for most of her 8 years. All of us at JVS send our prayers and I want to express my admiration for all of you
who brought such love into her life. Liz, I was stuck by your beautiful words that you felt privileged to be her mom.

Dear Mr & Mrs Scott,
I was so sorry to hear that your precious daughter Alexandra lost her courageous battle to cancer. I know you pain because I also loss my precious son Chad to cancer. Chad and Alexandra don't have to suffer anymore. We will see our angels again. I have been on this road for a long time and I can tell you that as time goes by the wound in your heart will heal, not because you have lost your love for Alexandra who was so dear to you but because you have gained a new strength and a greater faith.
Keeping you in my prayers.

I became aware of Alex's passing when Neil Cavuto did a eulogy about her on his afternoon program. I couldn't hold back the tears that started streaming down my cheeks. The strength she had at such a young was truly inpriring.
My daily thoughts and prayers go out to her family in hopes of lessening the pain of their loss.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Scott: I can't begin to tell you how very sorry I am to hear of Alex's passing. She is truly an inspiration to which we all should aspire. Since I first learned of Alex and her selfless mission, I have looked at life and our purpose here in a totally different light. She is truly an angel sent from God who is now safely at home in heaven.

I ran across the story of Alexandra on the internet while searching for the obituary of another dear angel, "Princess" Hannah Grace Keeton (7 years old). She, too, had been fighting the difficult battle of childhood cancer. Isn't it amazing that God would take 2 little angels to heaven -- together! Their stories of love for other children are powerful! These brave little girls, I'm sure, will be playmates in heaven! May God give you comfort and peace through these difficult days ahead. May He bless you for your love & care for His precious child--Alexandra.
