Allen Labbe Obituary

Allen J. Labbe passed away on February 3, 2018 at the age of 70 years old. Born in Eagle Lake, Maine, Allen spent the majority of his adult life as a resident of East Hartford, Connecticut. He was a Marine, a veteran of the Vietnam War, and worked as a police officer for the Hartford Police Department before retiring in 1989. Allen spent his retirement years as a Glastonbury Elk. Preceded by his father, Patrick Labbe, and his mother, Yvonne Labbe, Allen will be forever missed by his daughter, Kimberly Labbe Svoboda, her husband, Joshua Svoboda, and two loving grandchildren, Benjamin and Ellasyn Svoboda. Allen also leaves behind a daughter, Shelley Labbe Orr and her husband Dana Orr, a sister, Barbara Langdo, and her two children, James Langdo and Michelle Ambrosio as well as many other family and friends. But it is Allen's "brother," best friend, and partner in crime, Tony Giusani and his wife Terry, who will be counted among those who will miss him the most. At Allen's request there will be no services. Memorial donations can be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation serving "our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need." garysinisefoundation.org

I worked with Al during the early 1970's. I served in Vietnam with the Marine Corps like Al,but we never talked about it. That's how it was. We were assigned to a plain clothes robbery detail one winter and caught the bad guys who were holding up package stores in the south end. There was a wild car chase and I found out that Al was a pretty good driver. Al was a good guy and a serious cop. May he rest in peace. Semper Fi Marine.

A very nice guy who was always positive. Never knew you were a Vietnam Veteran. He treated everyone the same; with respect and dignity. A very good cop!

To the Labbe Family,
I've heard of the loss of your loved one. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God's true thoughts are of peace for us, not pain. May reflection on his goodness comfort you.

A good and noble man who served his nation and the free world as a Marine in Viet Nam, and his community as a dedicated Hartford Police Officer. A tough man with a gentle heart. Rest in Peace.
