Andrew Brock Obituary

BROCK, Dr. Andrew James Dr. Andrew James Brock, 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday (November 27, 2008). He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. He was the husband of Gail (Horler) Brock. Dr. Brock was born June 19, 1941 in Morecambe, England, the son of the late Dr. Andrew and Mary (Sharples) Brock. He was raised in England and graduated from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology with a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering; a Masters in Electrochemistry and a PhD in Corrosion Science. Dr. Brock and his wife moved from England to New Haven in 1967 before settling in Cheshire. He worked 35 years at Olin Corporation Metals Research Laboratories in New Haven before retiring in 2002. Dr. Brock was a former President of the Farms Country Club and a former President of the Cheshire Jaycees. Besides his wife of 41 years, Dr. Brock is survived by his three sons, Andrew and his wife Kelly of Chatham, NJ; Ian and his wife Sabrina of Marblehead, MA; David of Easley, SC; and his four grandchildren; Hailey, Tyler, Alexander and Harrison. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 2 11 a.m. at the Slater Funeral Home, 242 S. Main St., Cheshire. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling Hours will be held on Monday,5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 71 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111. Dear Gail and Family:We were so sorry to hear of Jim's passing and so sad that we were not able to say goodbye to him in person as we were in the UK. We have very happy memories of Jim, especially around Thanksgiving and he will be sorely missed.
