Ann Gallicchio Obituary

Ann F. (Montanile) Gallicchio, 89, of Glastonbury, entered peacefully into eternal life on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Ann was a beloved wife to the late Philip J. Gallicchio for nearly seventy years. She was born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Josephine and Anthony Montanile. Ann worked as a dresser at The Bushnell Theater and the Hartford Civic Center for the Local 84 Stagehands Union and then in clothing boutiques in South Glastonbury and the Glen Lochen Mall. She loved fashion. Her passions included family, "my boys", her grandchildren, friends, dogs, the ocean and cooking. She enjoyed sharing her traditional Italian dishes with all. In the early 80's, she hosted and cooked for Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, The Police, their bands and crew as they came through Hartford with her son. She is survived by her four sons and daughter-in-laws; Philip and Linda of Massachusetts, Clifford and Kathi of Manchester, Nicholas and Lorraine of RI and Anthony and Eileen of Stonington. Her ten grandchildren and spouses; Christopher and Heidi, Brian, Michael and Colleen, Rocco, Stacy Murphy and Nate, Katie, Kimberly Petters and Wade, Matthew, Anthony and Laura, as well as eleven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, her brother Tony Montanile of Marlborough and her cousin, Paula and Bruce Barenbaum of FL. A private memorial service will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Dear Anthony and family, sending condolences and blessings. I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. G back in the 1980s, and remember her warm smile and friendly hospitality. Anthony, often think of you and Mrs. G when I'm on the turnpike at Apple Hill. Rest in peace.

Aunt Ann was a classy lady, was always dressed impeccably, had a great smile. She had a kind soul. Miss the visits at Crystal Lake with Uncle Phil, good laughs, good stories, praises of her “boys” and grandchildren. Always treated you with a hug and smile. Condolences to you all.

Ann -- and her boys -- contributed so much to the lively vitality of Apple Hill in Glastonbury that she (and they) will be long remembered by all surrounding neighbors. We'll never forget that Easter Sunday when a huge bus pulled up on The New London Turnpike carrying Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band for one of Ann's famous Italian holiday dinners. Neither can we erase the impact of "PCNA" -- Phil, Cliff, Nick, and Anthony -- on Glastonbury High School students who think of Ann as "another mother". If there is truly such a thing as 'good ol' days', she'll always play a big part in the fun and festivities that comprised so much of them.
