Ann Joy Obituary

Ann (Kicin) Joy, wife of James Joy, of West Hartford, died Sunday (May 19, 2002). Born in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Susan Kicin and the late Paul Kicin, she made her home in West Hartford for the past 34 years. Ann graduated from Torrington High School, received her BA from Boston College and her MS from Trinity College. She was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and member of their women's club, P.E.O., and Hall High School PTO. Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by her six children, Paul M. Joy and his wife Jessica L. Woodward of Newton, MA, Susan M. Joy, M.D. of University Heights, OH, James M. Joy of Newton, MA, David J. Joy of Cleveland Heights, OH, Michael J. Joy of Washington, D.C., and John D. Joy of West Hartford; and her sister and brother-in-law, Helen K. and William Malm of West Hartford. The funeral will be Wednesday, 9:30 a.m., from the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., in St. Thomas the Apostle Church. A private family burial will follow. Calling hours are TODAY, May 21, 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Francis Inn, c/o Fr. Michael Duffy, OFM, 2441 Kensington Ave., PO Box 3746, Philadelphia, PA 19125.
