Carnelli, Anthony "Tony", Jr.
Anthony "Tony" Carnelli, Jr., 90, of East Hartford, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2012, at the Veteran's Home in Rocky Hill. Born on October 1, 1922 in East Hartford, the son of the late Anthony T. Carnelli, Sr. and Teresa DelMastro Carnelli, he lived in East Hartford most of his life. Tony passed on the Veteran's Day of observance and was a decorated U.S. Army veteran who proudly served his country during World War II. Tony retired from Spencer Turbine after 43 years of service. He was an avid fan of the UCONN Huskies and the Boston Red Sox. He leaves his two sons, Anthony Carnelli, III and his wife Beverly of New Britain, Joseph Carnelli, Sr. and his wife Deborah of Portsmouth, RI; his grandchildren Brian Carnelli and Anna, of Rocky Hill, Joseph Carnelli, Jr. and Kathleen of Lebanon, Scott Carnelli of Sumter, SC and Diana Carnelli of Vernon. He also leaves seven great grandchildren. He leaves two brothers Edward Carnelli of Glastonbury, and James Carnelli of Newington; he also leaves his sister Betty Ann Kenyon of Ellington. Tony was predeceased by his sisters Michelina Taylor and Margaret Carnelli and his brothers, Donald Carnelli, Robert Carnelli, and George Carnelli.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Avenue, Newington, CT on Monday, November 19, 2012 from 5-6 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. Interment will be private. Memorial donations in Tony's memory may be made to the Connecticut Veteran's Home at Rocky Hill, 287 West St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067, where he lived his final days with dignity and the best of care and respect from an exemplary staff that became Tony's extended family!
