Anthony Fornuto Obituary

Anthony J. Fornuto (Tony), 60, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Diane (Prior) Fornuto died peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his family. Tony was born in Port Jefferson, LI, NY on November 20, 1958 the son of Daniel Fornuto and the late Lucille (Dinolfo) Fornuto. He grew up in Centereach, LI, NY and was a graduate of Centereach High School. He attended the State University of New York at Buffalo. He lived in Buffalo for several years where he developed his love for the Buffalo Bills. He was married to Diane Prior on April 17, 1993 and they lived in Manchester, before moving to South Windsor in 1998. Tony worked for Eversource (and its predecessors) for 28 years. He served on the South Windsor Board of Education for several years and was a member of the South Windsor Democratic Town Committee where he served as Treasurer. Tony was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in South Windsor. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. A kind, caring, loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many he will be dearly missed. He leaves his daughter, Tara Fornuto of South Windsor along with his wife Diane of South Windsor, his father Daniel and his wife Evelyn of St. Petersburg, FL, his sisters, Anne Marie Ayling of Middletown, NY, and Lisa Swanson and her husband James of Wolcott; his brother, Michael Fornuto and his wife Karen of Waterbury; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles Prior and his wife Irene of Wethersfield, Alan Prior and his wife Lucy of Windsor, and Priscilla Prior of Rocky Hill; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and their children. He was predeceased by his brother, John Fornuto; his stepfather, Frank R. Scott Jr.; and his brother-in-law, William Prior. His family will receive friends on Thursday, November 21, 2019, from 5 – 8 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, November 23, 2019, 10:30 a.m., at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 99 Sand Hill Rd., South Windsor. Burial will be private at the request of his family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and/or the American Cancer Society. Diane and Tara - I'm so sorry to learn of dear Tony's passing. My heart aches for how deeply you must feel his loss. I will always remember and cherish his unusual kindness and his great spirit and zest for living.
