Attilio Pizzoferrato Obituary

Attilio Pizzoferrato, beloved husband of Myra Pizzoferrato for over 70 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2020 after a brief illness. He was the son of Peter and Carmela Pizzoferrato. He was born on August 5, 1925 and lived in Hartford until he moved to Windsor in 1953. He was a graduate of Hartford High School, and served in the U.S. Navy as a third class Petty Officer during World War II in the Pacific area on the Mariana Islands in 1943-1945, and then received an honorable discharge. He attended the Porter School of Design under the GI Bill of Rights for four years. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney as a tool design engineer for 36 years, and then retired in 1983. He was a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years and also served as treasurer for many years for the Wilson Fire Dept. He had ushered at St. Gertrude's & St. Joseph's Churches in Windsor since 1953. He was a member of a bowling league for over 50 years, enjoyed making model airplanes as a teenager, and all sports, particularly baseball, was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, and also traveled a lot. He is survived by four sons, Thomas of East Granby, James & wife Karen of Windsor, Carl of Medfield, MA, Donald and wife Wendy of Colchester and two daughters, Sheila Landgraff and her deceased husband Robert, of Tequesta, Florida and Nancy and husband Ronald Bisson of Newington, and daughter-in-law Dana. He leaves nine grandchildren, Allison Ringler and husband Matthew, and Christopher Landgraff, Lauren Carlyon and husband Danny, Ashley Creem and husband Jay, Nicole, Amanda, and Cameron Pizzoferrato, and Jeffrey and Steven Bisson, a step-grandson Jacob Martel, and a great-granddaughter, Emily Ringler, a great-grandson Robert Ringler and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his sister-in-law Virginia Pizzoferrato. His brother, Anthony Pizzoferrato, predeceased him. His family would like to thank the staff at St. Francis Hospital's MSICU and Intermediate Care units, as well as the staff of St. Mary's Home in West Hartford for their compassionate care of Atillo. Memorial donations may be made in his honor to the Windsor Voluntary Ambulance, PO Box 508 Windsor, CT 06095 or the Wilson Fire Dept., 50 Pine Lane Windsor, CT 06095. His family will receive friends on Thursday, February 6 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave Windsor. Family and friends may gather at 9 AM Friday, February 7 at the funeral home to proceed to church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Damien of Molokai Parish, St. Joseph's Church, 1747 Poquonock Avenue, Windsor. Uncle Til-You left us w/some good memories through the many years....We always looked forward to visits @your Becker Circle house for summer cookouts w/RedSox games on the radio and joining the whole family for Christmas Eve celebrations. You will be greatly missed. RIP, dear Uncle Til
