Audrey Ladr Obituary

Audrey Glenn Ladr was born in New Bern, NC, on April 11, 1926, the youngest of five children born to Sherman and Lillian Daughety. She died in Plano, Texas, on April 4, 2014. She met and married Francis "Duke" Ladr of Willington, CT, in Norfolk, Virginia, where Francis was stationed in the Navy, and she was attending secretarial school. After WWII the young couple moved to Connecticut, where they raised their four children. Audrey worked as a secretary at the University of Connecticut. An avid fan of opera, she volunteered for Opera New England and held series tickets to The Metropolitan Opera in New York City. After retiring, she moved to Lake Lure, NC, a place she loved and cherished. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 60 years and leaves her four children and seven grandchildren: Sue Ladr, of Chelsea, MA, and her daughter Sophie of New Orleans, LA; Brian Ladr, of Plano, TX, his daughters Karen Ladr-Finefrock and Andrea Ladr, of CT, and his son, Ian Jack; Bradford Ladr, of Charlotte, NC, and his sons, Brian and Nicholas; and Barbara Pepin, and her daughter, Alicia, of Plano, TX. A memorial service will be held in Connecticut later this summer. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

May God grant you peace and comfort. May you find joy in the memories. I remember traveling up to Connecticut as a small child for a wedding. I remember going to the lake and spending time there. Aunt Glennie was always fun to be around. I will cherish those memories. - Love Jennifer "Parks"

Buz and I send our deepest sympathy to all the family members of Aunt Glennie (Audry Glenn) in her recent death. We have such fond memories of her, but as I clearly remember, it was to Aunt Glennie that I showed my diamond to first just after Buz placed it on my finger up at the Virginia farm at Thanksgiving in 1970. She was sitting right next to me on the arm of the big chair in the living room asking what all the excitement was about! She was so charmingly thrilled for us both. We always felt warmly welcomed in her home, too, in the few times we were able to visit there....both in Connecticut and at Lake Lure! She was a talented woman and proud of all her children and grandchildren. May you find comfort in remembering her love for you all and all the good times she shared with you! Blessings on each and every one! May God bring you His peace at this time in your lives, as only He can give!
