Barbara M. Cyr

1948 - 2016

Barbara M. (Carta) Cyr, 68, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of Robert R. Cyr for 33 years, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday (August 30, 2016) with her loving family by her side. Barbara was born in Hartford on January 25, 1948 and was the only child of the late Salvatore and Bella (Crifo) Carta. Barbara was a graduate of Hartford High School. She worked many years for the Services for the Blind as a switchboard operator and after retirement, she volunteered at Riverside Health & Rehabilitation Center where she made many dear and wonderful friends. In spite of Barbara's legal blindness, she excelled in all aspects of her life and we were all so proud of her many accomplishments. Besides her loving husband, Barbara leaves behind her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Raymond and Pattie Cyr-Pearce of Windsor Locks and sister-in-law, Sharon Cyr of East Hartford. Barbara also leaves behind her many loving cousins who are all blessed with such wonderful memories, and her precious cat, Louise. We all loved Barbara and will deeply miss her beautiful spirit. The family wishes to thank the compassionate and caring people from the Services for the Blind, Riverside Health & Rehabilitation Center and Westside Care Center for all their kindness. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday (September 7) at 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St., Hartford. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
