Barbara HENRICKSON Obituary

HENRICKSON, Barbara A. Barbara A. Henrickson, 73, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, (February 18, 2011). She was the loving wife of Larry W. Henrickson, Jr., for 43 years. Born May 6, 1937 in Winsted; the daughter of the late Kenneth and Elizabeth (Gidman) Johnson. She graduated from Gilbert School in 1955 and then went on to attend and graduate from Becker College in Worcester, MA. Barbara was employed as a Medical Secretary at Hartford Hospital for more than 10 years before becoming a mother. She then stayed home to raise her children and care for her family. Always supportive of her husband and children, she became very involved in many of their activities throughout the years. She was a vital member of her neighborhood and community, often organizing donations for local charities. She had a love for the piano, cats, cooking, baking and taking summer vacations on the shores of Maine and CT with her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Lawrence Henrickson, III, and his wife Anna and David Henrickson and his wife Erin; two grandchildren, Julia and Matthew; two loving cousins, Dick and Marge Gidman of Cape Cod and Karen and Ron Bowen of Paris, France; and a special friend, Mildred Avery. She was predeceased by a brother, David Kenneth Johnson. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, (February 24, 2011) at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street , Winsted at 12 p.m. Friends may call on Thursday, (February 24, 2011) at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, Winsted from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Last Post (an animal sanctuary), 95 Belden St. PO Box 259, Falls Village, CT 06031 or the Winsted Health Center Foundation, 115 Spencer St, Winsted, CT 06098. To our dearest neighbor Larry and family,
Our deepest sympathy to all of you. We only knew Barbara for a very short time. She welcomed our family into the neighborhood and made us feel right at hhome. Barbara was always smiling and appy.
