Barbara Pulito Obituary

Barbara Mildred (Kinghorn) Pulito, 101, of West Hartford passed away peacefully on March 18th 2023. She was the devoted, loving and proud wife of the late Bovio J. Pulito.

Barbara was born on March 3, 1922, to Henry and Mildred (Lehrmett) Kinghorn, the oldest and only daughter of five children who grew up in East Hartford. Barbara proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. She and Bovio settled in West Hartford where she raised her four children and made many lifelong friends. She was a woman of faith and a founding member of Saint Timothy's Parish Women's Association. Barbara was an avid bridge player, loved to golf, was an impeccable dresser and had an incredible social life. She spent her winters in Delray Beach, FL and her summers at her home in Old Saybrook. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, a wonderful cook and homemaker. Her family and friends were her greatest joy.

She leaves four children, Valerie Johnson and her husband Mark of Randolph NJ, Linda Cannarella and her husband Francis of Rocky Hill, Robert Pulito and his wife Patti of West Hartford and John Pulito of West Hartford. She also leaves eight grandchildren: Lisa SanMartino and her husband Anthony, Matthew Johnson and his wife Megan, BreAnne Gillespie and her husband Michael, Amy Blanco and her husband Paul, Jeanne Cannarella, Kaiti Pulito and her husband Taylor Wrye, William Bo Pulito and his wife Jessica and David Pulito and his wife Brittany, and sixteen great-grandchildren: Anthony, Ava, Lola, and Maria SanMartino; Ellie and Molly Johnson; Cole and Eva Gillespie; Annabella, Sofia, and Paul Blanco; Jack and Charlie Wrye; Bo and Luca Pulito; Jamie Pulito, as well as many nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her four brothers, Robert Kinghorn, Henry Kinghorn, Raymond Kinghorn and Richard Kinghorn. Her family would like to thank Jane Ahlquist, her niece, for all her care, kindness and support through the years.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 27th at 10 a.m. at St. Timothy Church, 225 King Philip Drive, West Hartford. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. Donations in Barbara's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Boys Town, P.O. Barbara is the last Pulito member of the Greatest Generation, which she epitomized. She leaves, however, her legacy of 4 kind and wonderful children as her contribution to the next generation.
