Barbara Jean, always a breath of fresh air.
These treasured moments flash through my mind and warm my heart. Thank you for all the special times you carved out just for me. Thank you for welcoming me and my girls and including us in this big, beautiful and wacky family.
One of my favorite things about you is the closeness and bond you bring to all interactions. I have been enchanted by you since the day we met.
A perfect combination of femininity, strength and love packaged in simple elegance. You are an inspiration and you own a big chunk of my heart. Our connection remains solid regardless of miles or time. That connection will never end.
Until we meet again Mom, I'm loving you.
Hugs to Sweet, Sweet Hannah and Cinny
Love,
Julie

Dear Walker family, I am so sad to hear of Barbara's passing. I apologize for missing the funeral but, unfortunately, I just found out about it today.
She was such a wonderful, funny, warm and loving woman and I have such great memories or her and my Mom through the years. So many stories!
Again I apologize for not being there and would certainly have come had I known.
I know everyone that knew her is sad at not having that funny smiling face around any more-but think of the fun Barbara and Dorothy must be having now!!
Love to all-Joyce

This may seem far-fetched to my Walker cousins, but I am just old enough to remember the lucky times I got to go to Barbara Walker's house when I was a wee tot in Granby. Every once in a while, there would be a time when my parents would be visiting their hometown with my sister and I, and we would end up at my uncle Jeff's parents' house. My mother would always push this as a time for me to connect with their aunt Carol, who was an artist, and inspiring. But I always felt awkward and young around her. What I remember from those times on a screen porch, I think, after a long line of split-rail fence - is wild laughter, red hair, and a thorough enjoyment of life that held it captive, rather than being a victim of it. Your grandmother is one of the main inspirations I have to be an entertainer, a hostess, and a person who gathers people around for a fantastic time of life and love. Long life and love to you all, and I will see you in Granby soon. Love to Carol and Jeff and all of the child-artists she made. You are amazing and so worthy of her love.

I am grateful to have met you, Barbara. I enjoyed our talks, your advice, and your surprising ability to shock and make me snicker. You are a tribute and a reminder to continue to be beautiful strong women.
