So sorry for your loss. Dr Steckler was a wonderful man and doctor who was my mom´s, my aunt´s, mine and my son´s doctor when he was old enough. He had a great sense of humor, I missed him when he retired. He was always there, returning your phone calls, or having you come in, no waiting to see him. He is greatly missed. Donna Bernard

I am so sorry of hear of Dr. Steckler's passing. He was my and my family's Dr. for about 40 years. The first time I went to him I had strep and I was so sick. When my appt. was done I asked how much did I owe because I didn't have insurance. He knew I was a single mother of 2 and was waitressing at the time. He told Linda just $5. What Dr. does that. He was a great Dr. with a heart of gold. I will never forget him or his kindness. God Bless the family.

Dr Steckler was my physician for many years. He was recommended by my son-in-law Armand DiMatteo. He was a true PC doctor and was right when he diagnosed a problem. I missed him when he retired but glad he had time to spend with his family.

I worked with Joanne for many years and have known Barry socially for the same time. The two things that always stood out to me about Barry was his love for his family and his passion for medicine. The last few years, when most of us were talking about retiring and I would ask him how he could be working so late in life and he always said: " I just love it. I can't give it up " We will always remember him and miss him. Curt and Rita Holroyd

I was part of the familial generations that Dr. Steckler cared for. He was my Aunt´s doctor first, then my mom´s, mine for 38 years, and finally, also my husband´s. He was someone I completely trusted who shared most stages of my life. When he retired, I really struggled to find another PCP, but at the same time, I was very happy for him because he definitely earned his retirement. My heart is with his family on hearing this sad news.

Dear Mrs. Steckler & Children: My deepest Sympathies to you on the death or your husband/father. He was my mother's & father's primary care MD for many years. My parents Respected & Loved him. When my dad was in his 70's he had fallen off a 6ft step ladder and needed chest x-rays. Nobody detected anything severe. Several bruised or broken ribs. Weeks later Dr. Steckler's office called my Dad for a follow-up. My Dad didn't hesitate. Dr. Steckler was careful with his diagnosis and referred my Dad to a specialist. The specialist saw the same thing and confirmed Dr. Steckler's hunch. My dad was later treated for non-small cell lung cancer ALL the specialists and Oncologist at St. Francis Hospital told my dad if Dr. Barry Steckler had not alerted you when he did, you might have recovered from the broken ribs and never known you had cancer. Because Dr. Steckler did what he did, my dad lived an extra 4 years. Thank You. I let your husband/father know how much we appreciated his care and I personally delivered to his office a letter of thanks along with a gift card to very nice restaurant. I just wanted you all to know, my family, brother & sister really appreciated his dedication and care he had for our parents and all his New Britain CT patients.
