Ben and my dear, departed Dad had a lot in common, including that they both started out from hard lives on modest, rustic farms, and went far and achieved much. Big respect.

I extend my sincere condolences to all the family.
In one conversation, in 1999 after I had joined the Franciscan Order, Ben revealed that he was a spiritual son of St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina (a Franciscan priest) and said that he had once received a letter from the saint. He also described how he fell from high up on a 40-foot ladder and immediately called out to the Blessed Mother and someone he could not see grabbed him and put him back on the ladder. He described all this with a beautiful, animated faith.
I am praying now for the repose of his soul. It looks to me like Ben already has friends in high places. I look forward to seeing him serenade the Madonna with "Ave Maria".

My deepest condolences to the entire Ancona Family. I have so many memories of Ben. I never called him Ben! It was Sergio after the great Italian Opera Star, Sergio Frankie. As a 12 year kid, Ben taught me how to hang wall paper and paint. We spent countless hours together and I'll always have fond memories of him.
