Bruce EDGE Obituary

EDGE, Bruce Fox

Bruce Fox Edge, 71, of Plainville, passed into God's loving arms on Thursday, (April 26, 2012). Born in White Plains, NY, he joined the U.S. Navy upon graduation from high school. He proudly served his country in the Submarine Service aboard the U.S.S Halibut. He went on to further his education at the University of Maine, majoring in Journalism, where he met the love of his life and soul mate, Barbara Hill. They married in 1968, and settled in Plainville where they raised their two sons and enjoyed 44 years of marriage. Together they loved to travel, making Cancun one of their favorite places to visit where Bruce could fulfill his love for the sun, sand and shell collecting. Bruce was a die hard Brooklyn Dodgers and Red Sox fan, and never missed his sons' sporting events, traveling throughout the east coast to cheer them on. He had a love for the outdoors, especially gardening, taking great pride in his yard. He was employed for over 30 years at Hartley-Parker liquor wholesaler. Bruce was an active and dedicated member of the Congregational Church of Plainville, United Church of Christ. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, Barbara, he leaves his sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Renee Edge and Brian and Melissa Edge, all of Avon; and his adored grandchildren, Bryce, Nicolet and Lauren.
A memorial service in celebration of Bruce's life will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at The Congregational Church of Plainville, 130 W. Main St. Burial will be held privately at a later date. Bailey Funeral Home, Plainville is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, Bruce may be remembered with contributions to the Book of Remembrance at the Congregational Church of Plainville.
