Bruce Kelly Obituary

Bruce William Kelly Son, brother, husband, father and friend. He had a rich and vital life and was well-loved by his family and friends. He died on Saturday, March 14th, 2020. Bruce found his soulmate in Susan, his wife of 19 years. Their relationship was exceptional and true, and they loved each other passionately in the too short time that they had together. Her selfless and undivided care for him in his final years made his life enjoyable, meaningful and dignified. Bruce was committed to his family. He cared for them in good times and bad, and always had their health, happiness and best interests at heart. He leaves behind 5 children, Beth, Karen, Brendan, Megan and Colin, their spouses and families. His loving daughter Eileen predeceased him. Besides his loving wife Susan, he also leaves behind his brother Barry (Cindy), his sister Linda Morey and his sister Elaine Haberern, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents William and Marion Kelly, and his brother-in-law and best buddy, Al Haberern. Bruce accomplished much in his life. He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. That summer he began his career with Hamilton Standard. Over the years he worked for various corporations including Cigna and Combustion Engineering. It was during that time that he honed his skills as an Information Technology (IT) Consultant, and set out to go into business for himself. He had the foresight to know that technology was a growing industry and would be necessary for businesses of all sizes and focus. In 1981 Bruce founded Kelser Corporation, a company designed to realize his vision. That company remains a family-owned business today, and will hopefully pass on through many more generations of Kellys. He was a hard worker, and extremely proud of his accomplishments, but relished his free time with Susan, his friends and his family. Bruce had many varied interests. He had a great passion for golf, and enjoyed his weekly tennis match. He loved playing sports as much as watching them - his favorite teams were his New York Yankees and Giants. Before his illness he and Susan loved to travel and play golf together. Bruce was very smart and had a bright, quick and witty sense of humor. He was an extremely generous person who gave freely and expected nothing in return. Compassionate, loving and kind, with a quiet laugh, a twinkle in his eye and a wonderful smile, he will be missed by all who knew him. Because of his caring and considerate nature, he would be proud and happy if donations in his memory were made to the Alzheimer's Association CT Chapter or the Hospital for Special Care Center for Cognitive Health so that their good works can continue in his name. Services are private and will be announced at a later date.
