Carl Anderson Obituary

Carl A Anderson, 70 of Rocky Hill passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 19, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in West Hartford to the late Albin and Elsie Anderson. He graduated from Conard High and attended University of Hartford before embarking on a 36 year career at Northeast Utilities. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jeannine and his three children. His son Ken and his wife Cindy, his two daughters Joy Anderson-Nowak and Amy Anderson. Along with four adoring grandchildren who affectionately called him "Buddy", christopher and Nicole Anderson and Victoria and Andrew Nowak. Carl is also survived by his sister Barbara Horton and a special brother-in-law Phil St. Laurent. He was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Murphy. Carl overcame many physical challenges starting with polio at age 6 and many other health issues throughout his life, but now he is at peace and pain free. He enjoyed his children's activities including swimteam, scouting and drum corps. He was an avid Hartford Whaler's fan, serving as their booster Club president for several years. Most days he could be found enjoying NASCAR and hockey with his best four-legged friend and constant companion Racer. His kind and generous nature will be greatly missed by everyone. A service will be held Saturday March 23rd at 11:00 am in Trinity Episcopal Church, 345 Main Street, Portland, followed by a Celebration. Interment will be private. Carl and I go back to 14 years old. He and I met Jeannine together. He was best man at my wedding. Many memories over all the years.
In recent years we grew apart and I will always regret that. He was my oldest and dearest friend. Someday I will see him again.
My love and sympathies to Jeannine, Kenny, joy and Amy.

Dear Jeanine & Children,
I intended to be at Carl's service this morning, but got it in my head that it was at Trinity Church in Middletown.
Whenever I think of Carl, I think of the first summer Rocky Hill had it's Rec Swim team and how much fun it was to troop all over the state to different meets. What a joyous time that was! You are all in my prayers.

Dear Jeannine and family,
I was so sorry to hear thru Dave Wadstrup about Carl's passing. I've known Carl since he started working for NU in the engineering department. He was always very friendly, anxious to learn and appreciative of having a good job with what was then an exciting company to work for. He also fell in love with the Whalers and was its biggest booster as Club president. It was because of him that my wife and I bought season tickets to try to save the Whalers. He was able to get a hockey stick for our granddaughter that was signed by her hero, Keith Primeau. In recent years he joined our Lunch Bunch, a group of NU engineering department retirees. He really enjoyed these monthly gatherings with those he had worked with for 25 - 36 years and we enjoyed having him with us. We will miss him a lot, but will have very good memories of his time with us and how he persevered in spite of his medical problems, starting at Newington Children's Hospital where he began his battle back from polio.
Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Jeannine & Family, Liz and I are so sorry to hear about Carl's passing. Our condolences to you and your entire family. I'll always cherish the years of working with him at Northeast Utilities, the hundreds of hockey games we saw together and our trips and efforts with the Booster Club. He was one of the kindest and most generous people I've ever known; ALWAYS going out of his way to help anyone that needed a hand. If there was a Hockey Hall of Fame for fans and people, Carl would certainly be there.
