Catherine Marek Obituary

Catherine Frances Marek, 88, of Unionville, died Thursday, (September 26, 2002) at home after a long illness. Born in Collinsville, November 2, 1913, daughter of the late Anna (Palker) and John Roman, she lived in Unionville all of her life. She was a lifelong communicant at The Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea in Unionville. Catherine enjoyed the past 20 years of her retirement. She loved her family, friends, playing cards, cooking and the Red Sox. She is survived by her sons, John R. Marek, Sr. of Tolland, Richard P. Marek, Sr. and his wife, Rosemary of Unionville; her daughters, Ann Nadeau of New Port Richey, FL, Patricia A. Burwood and her husband, Roger and Janet Weber and her husband, James, both of Unionville; her two sisters, Sophie Olesh and Rose Winot; 17 grandchildren, Eileen Ouellette, Kenneth Nadeau, Sharron Harris, Nanette Nadeau, Lori-Ann Maznicki, John Marek, Jr., Lisa Marek, Michael Marek, Joseph Marek, Kathleen Marek, James Weber, Jeffrey Weber, Jennifer Cormier, Keith Burwood, Patricia Jacquemin, Laura Marek and Richard Marek, Jr; 13 great grandchildren, Christian Ouellette, Kenneth Nadeau, Brian Milliken, Jonette Peretik, Carrie Peretik, Shad Nadeau, Sarah Marek, Joseph Marek, Jr., Nicholas Taylor, Mary-Katherine Cormier, Keith Burwood, Connor Burwood and Alexa Jacquemin; four great great grandchildren, Damian Ouellette, Darian Guilmette, Alicia Milliken and Nathan Milliken. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Anthony Karpo, John Karpo, John Roman, Andrew Palker, Anna Karpo and Mary May and her great-grandson, Jakob Wampold. Friends may call at the Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rte. 4, Unionville, TODAY, 6-8 p.m. Funeral Procession from the Ahern Funeral Home will he Saturday, 9:15 a.m., followed by the Funeral Liturgy in The Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea in Unionville at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Program, Farmington Valley Visiting Nurses Association, 8 Old Mill Lane, Simsbury, 06070.
