LATHROP, Charles Staye Charles Staye Lathrop Sr., 70, of Coventry husband of the late Constance (Gelinas) Lathrop passed away suddenly, Friday (March 10, 2006) at his home. He was born September 29,1935 in Manchester, son of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Staye) Lathrop of Manchester. He resided in Coventry for over 50 years. Prior to his retirement he was owner and operator of L&M Construction of Coventry which he operated with his sons and grandsons. His greatest interest was shooting the breeze with family and friends which awarded him the nickname "Good time Charlie." He adored his family of which included five children; Charles Staye Lathrop Jr. and his wife Laurie of Coventry, Joan Lathrop of Thompson, Wendy McMahon of Coventry, James and Kathy Lathrop of Coventry and Joyce Lathrop of Coventry. He also leaves nine grandchildren; Brian, Christopher and Nicholas McMahon, Katie, Charles,Joey and Robert Lathrop, Holly Conroy and Tiffany Lathrop. He also leaves four great grandchildren; Ian McMahon, Kayli McMahon, Cody anc Connor Oullette, and Alexis Lathrop. He also leaves two sisters; Gay Dudzic, Jessie Hovey of Manchester and Guy Lathrop of Coventry. He also leaves behind many other relatives and friends. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 15 at 11a.m. at St. Mary Church 1600 Main Street Coventry. Burial will be in East Cemetery Manchester. Calling hours will be held Tuesday March 14 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Coventry Funeral Home 2665 Boston tpke. (Rt 44) Coventry. Memorial donations may be made in Charlie's name to the Coventry volunteer fire Association: P.O. box 1 Coventry CT. 06238.

Dear Butchie, Joanie, Wendy, Jimmie and Joycie....I, we---are all so very sorry about your dad.  I am so grateful that our families were blessed enough to be brought up so closely with one another.  You are all a gift to all of us.

I remember his going out of his way to bring us some wood during the ice storm in 1973 when it was impossible to get.He had a good heart.
