Clare Marie Philips

One of the kindest and gentlest souls ever to grace this life, Clare Marie Philips, of Hartford, passed away on June 3 at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. Clare was born in Trumbull, CT, and was a lifelong resident of the state. A gifted artist, lover of animals, and wonderful wife and mother, Clare leaves her loving husband of more than 42 years, David Kulle, her daughter, Kira Philips, whom she adored with all her heart, and beloved pets Banana, Holly, Fin and Minke. A former art director and graphic designer, and a member of Connecticut Women Artists, Clare's work was featured in numerous shows in Connecticut and on Cape Cod. A friend to all animals, she was a passionate and generous supporter of many animal welfare organizations. Special thanks go to Clare's "extended family"-Kim McClain and Brian Smith, Kathy Kraines, Donna Flagg, Marilyn Beardslee, and Clare's "painting buddies"-for their years of devoted friendship and support. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service to honor Clare will be held at a later date.
