Corey Hassett Obituary

HASSETT, Corey Lance Cory Lance Hassett, at 51, has left this earth to go peaceably and joyfully into the light from his darkness. His pain and anguish will be left behind, as life was just too difficult for him. He never complained about his problems or reached out for help. As a meek person, he did things in his own time in a quiet way. He worked many years for Rex Lumber, in South Windsor as an inspector, and for General Builders in East Hartford (now Stroeber Building Supplies). Cory was an excellent carpenter who drew pictures of what he wanted and then built upon them. AA was a big part of his life. He was an outdoor person, when in good health, enjoyed camping and was a frequent visitor of rivers and lakes. He loved the sunrises and sunsets over the waters. Having little himself, he was a giving person often coming to visit with a handful of wild flowers. He loved and was very proud of his son, Adam and daughter Devon. He leaves behind a sister, June Sample; and a brother, Marc Hassett, who loved their little brother dearly. Cory also leaves two nieces; a nephew; several cousins and his best friend, bicycling buddy and love, Peggy Ann Vendetta, who decorated his hospital room with their loving memories. Our thanks go to the doctors, nurses and aides at Manchester Hospital, who made is last days so peaceful. His funeral will be held Thursday, November 29, at 10 a.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., with burial to follow in Wapping Cemetery, both in South Windsor. A calling hour will precede his funeral on Thursday morning from 9 -10 a.m. and contributions in his memory may be directed to the Manchester Area Conference of Churches, 466 Main St., Manchester, CT 06040.
