Corinne M. Austin

Corinne M. Austin 97 of Avon CT and Edgartown MA passed away peacefully at her home in Avon with her son Douglas by her side on October 10, 2022. Corinne was born in Tisbury, MA on July 24, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Percival T. and Mary G. (Haggerty)McDonough. Corinne was married to the love of her life and best friend Thomas C. Austin, Sr. 55 years at the time of his demise. They traveled to exotic places and enjoyed the sun and sand on Martha's Vineyard. Corinne was an "Islander" having been born and raised on the Vineyard. Her marriage to Tom brought her to Connecticut. She enjoyed visiting with her life long Island friends. Corinne was an elementary school teacher at Tottin Hills School in Simsbury for many years before her retirement. Corinne especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Second to her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her beloved dogs, last one being Molly. The family wishes to thank her caregivers and especially Kristen McCullun for the loving care they provided their Mom in her final years. Corinne leaves three sons and their wives, Thomas "Neil" and Catherine Austin, Jr. of Cheshire, Douglas J. and Beatrice Austin of Lewisville, TX and Rev. Stu J. and Ethelanne Austin of Ft. Myers, FL, grandchildren Ashley Ann Ledet of Destrehan, LA, Tyler John Austin of Lewisville, TX, Thomas C. (Tripp) and Emily Anne W. Austin, III of Milford, Christopher J. and Heidi M. Austin of Milford, MA, great grandchildren Aubrey Ann Ledet, Rayne Matthew Ledet and Rory Brannelly Austin and a beloved niece and nephew. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas C. Austin, Sr., her grandson Sean Austin, her sister and brother-in-law Helen and Jack Jones. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday October 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Sea Church, 145 Main Street, Unionville, CT 06085. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital.
