Dana Clay Obituary

Dana Coverly Clay, 90, of Bloomfield, beloved husband for 57 years of Katherine E. (White) Clay, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2019, surrounded by his family at his home. Born in Hartford on February 14, 1929, son of the late Henry Clay and Dorothy (Ferris) Stokes, he was raised in Hartford and was a graduate of Hartford High School. After high school, Dana enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and later served in the US Army during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1953. He returned to Hartford and took a position as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service where he worked for 33 years until his retirement in 1984. Dana was a proud member of the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) for over 50 years. He was a member of The First Cathedral in Bloomfield for many years where he served as a Deacon at the church. Dana loved people and enjoyed sharing his faith and the goodness of the Lord in his life. His engaging personality led many of his friends and church members to seek him out for his wisdom and counsel. In his spare time and during his retirement, he liked watching westerns and game shows. An avid sports fan, Dana especially loved baseball and football and enjoyed following his favorite teams, the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. Besides his wife Katherine who will dearly miss her "Honey," he leaves to mourn his passing, two grandchildren, Dana L. Robinson of Myrtle Beach, SC and Darryl Jackson of Bloomfield; two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Dallas Johnson; and his spiritual son and daughter and their family, Calvin and Gail Hudson of Windsor; and a host of other spiritual family members and friends. His family will receive friends on Monday, August 5, 10-11 a.m., followed by a Homegoing Service at 11 a.m., at The First Cathedral, 1151 Blue Hills Ave., Bloomfield. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield. Carmon Windsor Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
