Daniel Stepanek Obituary

Daniel (Dan) Stepanek, 60, of Windsor, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Katherine (Kane) Stepanek. He was born on July 29, 1963, in Hartford, and was the son of the late Robert and Elaine (Olding) Stepanek. He enjoyed watching baseball, golf, and football. He was an avid collector of baseball cards and cards from all sports. He loved his job of over 20 years where he worked most recently in the Engineering department. He always said that if he could bring his dog Romeo to work he would never leave. He enjoyed trips to Cape Cod, mini golfing, and driving around. He enjoyed working on the computer and watching old TV shows and movies. He always decorated his office at work for every holiday and had a stuffed animal moose that he dressed in different outfits for holidays and other occasions. Everyone in the company enjoyed seeing what outfit he would dress him in. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Sherry Stepanek. He leaves behind his brothers Ken and David Stepanek and his sisters Diane Cristelli and Karen Stepanek and their spouses. Along with cousins, nieces, and nephews. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Christine Skellwies and brother in-law Peter Kane. He also leaves behind his dog Romeo (Puggle) and his cat Marshmallow. Marshmallow was originally an outdoor cat who stayed around the house. When his daughter moved out with her cats, Marshmallow was brought inside to live and became part of the family. Dan loved his animals. Romeo enjoyed spending time with him, relaxing and going for walks and Marshmallow enjoyed waking him up early in the morning to eat. They will miss him but are being well taken care of as he would have wanted. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his mother-in-law Mary (Garvey) Kane and father-in-law Pete Kane Sr. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date private to the family. The Cremation Society of CT In Windsor has care of the arrangements.

I can't believe it has been a month. Everyone misses you so much. I always want to tell you things and see you again. Romeo still looks for you. We will miss you forever. I'm trying to take care of things but we need you here.

This is Winston. He misses driving in the car with him and he always took him outside when he was a puppy. He would put his head on his arm in the car and fall asleep. He still looks for you like Romeo does. He misses you too.

So sorry for Kathie and Sherry´s loss as well as our whole extended family of siblings. I´ll miss giving him hurricane updates as he would wonder how we were all doing in Florida. Or telling him how warm we were while he was out walking Romeo & freezing. Just a heartbreaking loss for everyone. Kathie & Sherry, may your memories of him provide comfort to you both.

Romeo and Marshmallow miss you and still look for you. Winston misses driving in the car and laying on your arm. The other cats wonder where are you are and miss you. I had to take Tiny and Snuggles to the vet in Manchester. I was asking for your help to get there and back. Everyone misses you. I'm keeping track of your teams. Mets won. I will keep watching them for you. The Orioles won too. They get to go to the playoffs now. I got the sweatshirt and bear. I wish we could talk to you again.
