BURR, David Roberts David Roberts Burr, 61, of South Windsor, formerly of Manchester, beloved husband of Patricia (McClain) Burr, died Friday, (December 30, 2005) at his home after a courageous battle against cancer. Born in Norwich, February 10, 1944, son of the late Roberts D. and Mary (Baughman) Burr, he was raised in Tarrytown, NY and had been a member of the Tarrytown Washington Engine Fire Department. Dave came to Manchester in 1975, moved to South Windsor 18 years ago, and was a former employee of C.S.C. Corporation in Newington. He was an active volunteer for Boy Scout Troop 25 in Manchester and was a marathon runner, competing in the Hartford and Disney 26.5 K Marathons. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, David Burr and his wife Elisha of Mission, TX and Brian Burr of San Diego, CA; his adored grandson, Jacob Roberts Burr; his brother, Charles Burr and his wife Asako of Winchester, MA; his mother-in-law, Ethel McClain; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward McClain and his wife Francine, and Rita McClain; several nieces and a nephew. David's family would like to thank Dr. Hegde, Judy Fox APRN, Fiona Furlong APRN and all the staff at the Univ. of Connecticut Medical Cancer Center. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5, at 11:30 a.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester. Burial will follow in the East Cemetery, Manchester. Calling hours will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Troop 25 B.S.A. 25 for 25 Fund, 11 Center Street, Manchester, CT 06040 or the U-Conn Medical Cancer Center, 263 Farmington Ave., Farmington, CT 06030.
