David Goldfarb Obituary

David Reuben Goldfarb, 80, born February 12, 1943 , to Joseph and Blanche Goldfarb in Hartford, CT, passed away on January 6, 2024. He attended Weaver and Conard High School, pursued his undergraduate studies at UConn, and earned his MBA from Boston University. Enlisting in the US Army after completing ROTC, David served in the Vietnam War, rising to the rank of First Lieutenant. In his professional life, David spent 12 years in private and public accounting before dedicating 29 years to Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT, where he retired as their CFO. Devoted to his family, David is survived by Sharon (nee Hecht) his beloved wife of 49 years, sons Joseph (Yafit) and Barzeli (Yehudis), eight grandchildren, and sister Zelda Polman. Predeceased by his brother Hyman and sister-in-law Elise Goldfarb. A man of service, David volunteered at St. Francis Hospital as a patient care advocate, at the Young Israel of West Hartford in various roles including serving on the board of directors, and at the Hebrew Academy of Greater Hartford (New England Jewish Academy) on the financial aid committee. He was the 2018 recipient of the H. Zachs Spirit of Judaism Award. Deeply religious, he was a pillar of the Young Israel of West Hartford where he served as gabbai (ritual coordinator) for decades. David's caring nature extended to everyone around him. Known for checking on scores of people weekly and his sweet smile, he was famous for reciting and helping others say the Kaddish memorial prayer. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be sent to Young Israel of West Hartford (youngisraelwh.org/inmemoryof). David Reuben Goldfarb will forever be remembered for his service, compassion, and devotion to his family, faith, community and country.

John and I hold David in the highest regard. He was a loyal friend, a kind man of good humor and the utmost integrity, and a steady hand to all of us who were his colleagues.

with deepest sympathy. David was a wonderful person, a great co-worker
at the Connecticut Hospice Inc. for many years, and an authentic representative for the hospice philosophy and caring. He was always there for patients and families, staff and co-workers to provide assistance and care and advocacy. He authentically provided that care to all he met. He was ethical, caring, beyond belief, and will remain in my memory and with my respect forever......I extend my sympathy to all his family, hoping that good memories of the past will sustain all during this difficult time. Sincerely, Sandy Klimas

Rest in peace...

My deepest sympathy upon the recent passing of David Goldfarb. I worked with David at Connecticut Hospice and upon my return to West Hartford I often saw him walking to Temple. While David volunteered at St. Francis Hospital I also met him and we shared stories of Hospice. Each of you are held in my prayer as your journey continues without the physical presence of David.
