David Mazo was a great friend to my older brother Chris. He had the ability to really listen and connect with people. We are grateful for all of the times that we spent in his company. Our hearts go out to the families especially Kelly, Caroline and Samuel. We love ya Maze - God Bless.

The mere mention of Maze would bring a smile to anyone's face in the Fairfax family - he had that impact and was loved by us all. I first met him when I dropped my brother off at UVM and there was David - his first roommate and soon to be life long friend. That will never change. We will never forget Dave and our prayers go out to you Kelly and the kids. You will be eternally in our thoughts.

To David's family: Tragic news travels far and fast and this one hurts. With deepest sympathy to all of you and many fond rememberances of days gone by. I remember David as a child but not much as an adult and now that life has been cut short. It sounds like he lived a lifetime in a few short years. May God comfort all of you now and in the days ahead.

Fondly, Sybil Nassau

I did not know David. However, I spent nearly 12 hours with his friends and family on Sunday, February 3, 2002. I sat in the background and listened intently, taking it all in and formed what I think is a pretty accurate picture of David. Sometimes in death we fail to see past the tragedy, but know that even in death, David has touched my heart and inspired me to evaluate my own life. I would like to live my life more like David lived his: with compassion and vigor. We all should live our lives this way.

We first met David when he and Kelly came to visit us in Hong Kong. We had a great time together and liked David straight away. Through the years on our visits up north and via the internet we have found him to be a very caring guy. Not only a good husband and father but we know a good son as well. He always talked about coming down to Pinehurst to play golf and we're sorry he didn't get that chance. Our love and prayers go to all his family and friends and may God watch over Kelly and their beautiful children Caroline and Samual .. Aunt Gloria and Uncle Herb

I attended Aiken elementary school with David while we were growing up in West Hartford. While we went to different high schools, I often heard nice things about him from common friends. Over the years I've often wondered about him when I drove by his parents' house when in West Hartford to visit my own parents, who live just up the street at the top of Tumblebrook on North Main. I am happy to read of his wonderful life, but so deeply saddened to know he is gone...it hits close to home in that he was a childhood friend and neighbor, exactly my age, and the parent of 2 children as I am. I am so sorry for his children, wife, parents, sister, and friends, of which I was one so long ago.

In Dave Mazo we lost one of the truly good guys. I know he'd be happy to see the way his UVM friends are rallying for him right now. Personally, I am sorry we never got a chance to take our kids skiing together at Okemo. It was something we were looking forward to.

When I think of all the people at UVM, David comes to mind as the most sincere and generous of the group. What will life be like without Maze? We are so saddened by his death. Words can't express our sorrow.
