David WANAT Obituary

WANAT, David J.

David J. Wanat, age 64, husband of Carolyn L. Wanat, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 2, 2011 at Gaylord Hospital. David was born in Meriden, CT on August 28, 1947. He was the son of the late Albin and Loretta Wanat. David was a Maloney High School graduate, class of 1965, and furthered his education to pursue his own dreams at the University of New Haven where he received a Masters of Business Administration. David worked at Cuisinart and served as the Director of Engineering, an intelligent asset to the company. David was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Meriden. He loved spending time with his family and friends and was always a man of kind words who would put a smile on someone's face without trying. David had a passion for playing golf, reading, riding his motorcycle, boating, skiing and snowmobiling. He was also a role model to many youths as their Ed Walsh Little League baseball coach. Besides his wife Carolyn, he is survived by his daughter Alyssa Wanat and her fiancé James Anderson Jr., son, Todd Wanat and his fiancé Monica Pensanti and son Ryan Wanat. David's brothers, Philip Wanat of Meriden, CT, Ronald Wanat and his wife Carol of Hebron, CT and Peter Wanat and his wife Pearl of Meriden, CT. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, by his mother-in-law Hilda Moratti of Meriden, CT and sister-in-law Janet Kozakiewicz and her husband Joseph of Trumbull CT. He is also survived by his faithful dog Precious. David will be remembered as a kind, genuine and caring man who always put the feelings of others in front of his own. He will be remembered by his wife of 40 years as her "high school sweetheart" and by his children as their strongest influence of their lives.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on September 7, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 109 Goodwill Avenue, Meriden, CT. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, CT on Tuesday, (September 6, 2011) from 4-8 p.m. The family of David would like to sincerely thank the nursing staff at Gaylord Hospital for their compassionate care they gave to both David and his family. Should friends desire, contributions in his memory may be made to Gaylord Hospital, Gaylord Farms Road, Wallingford CT 06492. www.jferryfh.com.

For the last fifteen years it has been my pleasure to work for David as secretary of engineering, Conair Corporation in Stamford, CT. His leadership was always straightforward, honest and brave. He never turned away from a difficult task. He was self sufficient in the best sense of the word. I could not have had a better boss and co-worker.
His family was his joy and his life. My heartfelt condolences to all of you. Fondly, Rosemary Louden

To the Wanat Family,
I worked with Dave at G.E. in the 80's and from the first day we met you new he was a great guy to know. This world was a better place with him here on earth but now he has his work to do in heaven. I will remember him always. May the Lord have mercy on his soul.

Carolyn & Family- We were kids and neighbors amongst others years ago in a wonderful place called Newton St. David was cherished then as he obviously is now. His list of accomplishments is impressive, but above all his inclination towards humane responses that defined his nature stands out. Representing the old gang from Newton St., our hearts go out to you in your time of sorrow.

Dear Carolyn, Alyssa, Tod & Ryan,
Our deepest sympathy. We are so sorry to be so far away and not able to attend David's memorial services. David was a wonderful person & cousin. He holds a very special place in my heart. He helped me through a very difficult evening when I was tweleve years old. I will never forget that night, or David's help & support. When I was young he used to help me with my math homework...and was always that cool cousin around the corner. I am so sorry you have lost him so early. Please know we are keeping you all in our prayers. All our love,
