Diane McLellan Obituary

Diane Blum McLellan, of Lancaster, VA, passed peacefully Monday, May 17th, 2021 joining her parents, James and Genevieve Blum, her sister Janet Wodatch and her best friend Patty Norton, in heaven. Born December 26, 1952, Diane grew up in Unionville, CT and graduated from Farmington High School. Prior to retiring, she had a successful career at Starbucks where she made many close friends. Diane had a love of the ocean, was an avid gardener, enjoyed art and history and had a love for sewing. In retirement, Diane used that love of sewing to give back to the community. She spent many hours making clothes for underprivileged children and sewing beautiful bags for chemotherapy patients. Diane leaves a loving partner, Cecil Thurmond, her children, David Morgan and Eileen DeMayo, Elaine Morgan and Arnold Ambers, and her beloved grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Noah Smith and Beck Morgan. She also leaves her siblings, Judith Buxton, Elaine Farrell, James Blum, Joseph Blum and Dawn Dash, as well as her long-time friends, Linda Rungi, Debbie Marcuson, Susan Turner, Wendy Lewis, and countless cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Diane's vibrant personality, caring heart and love of learning will be celebrated with calling hours on Thursday (May 20) from 5:00-7:00pm in The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville. Funeral Services will be held in The Ahern Funeral Home on Friday (May 21) at 11:00am. Please honor and remember Diane by wearing the colors of the rainbow (no black). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Reinhart Guest House, 1100 Libbie Ave., Richmond, VA 23266. Diane was the greatest boss I've ever had she really helped me through a difficult time in my life juggling work and having children. She was always a down to earth person to have conversations with and she was always in my corner. Ill miss her very much I regret not going to see her with my new babies after I left Starbucks. I wish so badly I could of seen her and spoke with her one last time. Thank you for everything you did for me Diane you were an angel in my life and ill always remember you.
