McCOY, Doc Van, Sr.
On the Morning of Saturday, (September 15, 2012) the Angel of the Lord was sent to Hartford Hospital to call Doc Van McCoy, Sr., 70, of Hartford, home. He was born on February 25, 1942 in Raeford, NC, to the late James W. and Magdlene (Morrison) McCoy. He resided in Harford for over 50 years and was employed at Emhart Glass for over 30 years. He leaves his sons Doc McCoy Jr., Angelo McCoy, Michael McCoy and Sheridan Davis; daughter, Helene McCoy; brothers, James W. McCoy, O.C. McCoy, Freddie McCoy, John L. McCoy, Mitchel McCoy, Alonzo McCoy, Thomas M. McCoy and Weldon McCoy; sisters, Minnie L. McCoy, Catheryn Shaw, Laureen Hall and Shirlene Brown Lee; many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews; his former wife, Olivia Dragg Ellis, and devoted lifetime friend Eleanor Davis. He was predeceased by his brother William L. McCoy, sister Virginia McCoy and granddaughter Naomi McCoy.
His funeral will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012, 11 a.m., at Phillips Metropolitan CME Church 2500 Main St, Hartford, CT, with burial to follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday morning from 10-11 a.m. Carmon Windsor Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.
